Puerto Galera a cheap alternative for Boracay

Puerto Galera is located in province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. If you were in Manila, this place is best alternative for Boracay if you want to relax, unwind or just to have fun in a limited days of vacation during weekend.

Puerto Galera has also its white fine sand, wonderful beaches, wide variety of water sport activities and numerous lodges, houses, hotels and Inns, even snack bars and resto, to choose from.

Me and my entire family (16 pax) enjoyed the Puerto Galera 4-day vacations. First things first after choosing your preferred date, you will need to look for accommodation that suits you and your Family.

Tips for having Accommodation in Puerto Galera

If you preferred to have a crowded beach with full of activities during day time and loud sound of band and parties during night time, I suggest you get your accommodation near or inside the vacinity of white beach, part of Puerto Galera. White Beach is the most popular of Puerto Galera’s 32 beaches especially among Filipino tourists. More information here: http://www.puertogalera.org/white-beach/

We got our accommodation at “Lucas Miramare Logde”. If you love to have a quite, peaceful and nature loving ambiance in your vacation, this lodge suits you. I suggest you could try at “Lucas' Miramare Lodge”. Although, some of the boats are park on the beach front day and night, you can still feel and enjoy the cool breeze from the beach day and night, you can enjoy also lying down in the sand, or use the “beach lawn chairs” available at the sea shore and under the palm/coconut tree while reading your favorite books or listening to your favorite music. But if you want to enjoy water sports from here, its feasible just ask the management to arrange it for you.You can have activities like kayaking, Jet ski, island tour, snorkeling, and different rides (banana boat, flying fish, & crazy ufo).

There are 2 cons we'd experienced here. One, the location is far from the central district. If you need to go to the market, groceries, or in central town, you will need to ask the management to get you a cab/tricycle. I could say it is much expensive due to the distance of the lodge. Second, the room were given to us has bathroom that surrounded by mosquitoes inside. We are very shocked and feel not satisfied at first, but the management so kind and nice to accommodate our request every time we ask for mosquito spray so later on we deal with it and used to it. This might be caused of the drainage inside the bathroom. Fortunately, we have 2 bathrooms inside the room, so its ok, we used only the other bathroom and temporary closed the other one with mosquito. This could be isolated case, not all rooms has the same with us.

Lucas' Miramare lodge has its own Resto called “Luca Cucina Italiana”. You can enjoy their Primary dishes of their Pasta, Spaghetti or Pizza. Their menu also include secondary dishes from seafoods, cheeses, sandwiches, crepes, salads, vegetables, omelletes, deserts, shakes, and Drinks (Tea, soda, cola, etc). I suggest and recommend to try their pizza, the pizza is quite huge in serving that can be share up to 6 pax, though it is served for only 4 pax. And take note of this, their menu are all Italian food but you can ask them for a Pilipino food like in the breakfast menu as Tapsilog, Tocilog, Hotsilog, Chicksilog, etc. For more info of the lodge, check out here:http://www.lucaphilippines.com/
